The Saint Isidore Music Ministry, under the guidance of Holy Mother Church, strives to lead the congregation in prayer, meditation, and giving honor and glory at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Music is selected embracing the guidelines put forth by the Church and utilizing the many eclectic offerings of composers both past and present.
Saint Isidore Choristers is not your average children’s choir. Any child who can sufficiently read through 8th grade may join the Choristers. Rehearsals include lessons in Music Theory, Aural Comprehension, and basic Theology of Music for the Mass. The first half of the season is dedicated to music education and singing technique. The second half is putting this knowledge to the test to bolster the Saint Isidore Choir. They meet while Wednesday Night Out is in session to Mother’s Day.
Saint Isidore Choir is a collection of all ages from 9th grade to well into adulthood. They meet Wednesday nights from September to Corpus Christi. The Choir focuses on everything from Gregorian Chant and Polyphony to Modern Chant and Hymns.
Saint Isidore Schola is an audition only collection of singers who focus on Polyphony. They meet regularly as schedules permit and sing on Solemnities and the occasional Sunday.
Auditions: As stated in the Mission Statement it is our job to lead the Congregation. This requires a certain level of musicianship from instrumentalists so as to not be distracting. If you have a true desire to help in this endeavor you will not be turned away. Most musicians who do not pass their initial audition only require a month of guidance and practice.
Saint Isidore Chamber Orchestra is a collection of instrumentalist that meet Wednesday afternoons from September to Corpus Christi. They play every other weekend and most Solemnities.
If you are not available to participate in the Chamber Orchestra, please contact the music director for ways you can participate.
